Edifact Systems supported
The term EDIFACT refers to a file format and stands for “Electronic Data Interchange for Administration, Commerce, and Transport.” EDIFACT was developed under the auspices of the United Nations (UN/CEFACT) to enable the digital and automated transmission of paper-based documents such as invoices, purchase orders, or delivery notes. The goal is to accelerate business processes, reduce errors, and lower costs by exchanging data in a standardized and machine-readable format. EDI formats come in a wide variety of forms.
EDI Application Scenarios
Digitization of the electronic freight forwarding order
The Syncler EDI connector enables electronic data exchange (Electronic Data Interchange) for the automated registration of general cargo based on NVE data (shipping unit number) between your ERP system and connected freight forwarders. The formats used for this are IFTMIN (freight forwarding order), IFTSTA (status messages), and INVOIC (invoice dispatch).
The problem:
Without a system integration, shipments must be entered manually in the freight forwarding portal. This requires entering extensive shipping and billing data from the ERP, which is time-consuming and error-prone. Information from the freight forwarder portal, such as shipping status, tracking information, and freight costs, is then missing from the ERP. As a result, there is a significant amount of manual effort, and the information is stored in separate data silos.
The Solution:
- Extracting all shipping-related data from the ERP
- Creating and transferring the IFTMIN file to the shipping carrier
- Generating waybill and shipment numbers
- Updating routing information for label creation
- Creating shipping labels and packing lists
- Provision of tracking numbers and tracking links with feedback to the ERP
- Import of status updates via IFTSTA
- Import of invoice information via INVOIC or CSV
- Automatic setting of shipping status in the ERP
Your benefits:
- Elimination of manual data entry
- Seamless end-to-end shipping process
- Up-to-date shipping information directly in the ERP
- Reduced time and personnel costs
- Faster response times to customer inquiries
- Communication between the shipper and the carrier is fully digital and
seamless
